Lake Cycling MX242 - Regular | Black/Silver

Built for the hardest-to-fit feet on technical trails: the Lake MX242

The Lake MX242 is Lake's answer for off-road riders who have tried everything and still can't find a mountain shoe that fits. Its upper is built from six independent leather zones, Helcor abrasion-resistant leather and Ecco full-grain leather over a lightweight NuFoam lining, so each panel wraps your foot on its own and spreads pressure away from bunions, bony spots, high insteps, and wide forefeet. A heat-moldable heel counter lets a fitter shape the heel cup to lock you in, and a Carbitex carbon fiber stabilizer keeps the structure solid without hard edges. Two BOA Li2 dials handle closure with micro-adjustment in both directions, built to shrug off trail abrasion.

Underfoot, the Lake Competition 100% carbon fiber sole delivers stiff, efficient power transfer, while the Mountain Competition real rubber tread extends across the sole for grip and stability when you are off the bike and scrambling. The MX Competition last gives you a larger toe box to prevent binding on steep climbs and a tighter heel for a planted, race-ready feel, and the 2-bolt pattern works with SPD, Time ATAC, and Crankbrothers cleats. This is the Regular width in Black and Silver; if your feet expand on long days, ask us about the Wide, fit is the whole reason this shoe exists, so it is worth getting right.
